Bosch Mobility Aftermarket celebrates National Apprenticeship Week

- Bosch Mobility Aftermarket trains hundreds of apprentices each year
- Bosch apprenticeships are available across the UK
- Automotive industry faces significant skills shortage
7th February 2025, Denham – Bosch Mobility Aftermarket is investing in its Automotive Apprenticeship programme. Research from the Institute of the Motor Industry suggests the UK’s automotive sector will have a shortfall of 160,000 people by 2031, and a need for an additional 48,000 technicians in the next 10 years.
The programme takes three years to complete and is delivered through a series of 17 training blocks at one of the three high-quality Bosch Service Training facilities. These are located at the company’s UK headquarters in Denham near Uxbridge, Doncaster, and Motherwell in Scotland.
Apprentices are in paid employment at a local independent workshop alongside their practical studies. Among the topics covered by the course are electric vehicle technology and the use of diagnostic tools to repair and maintain the latest vehicle technologies.
Sales director of Bosch Mobility Aftermarket UK, Kevin Kelly, said: “We’re proud of our Automotive Apprenticeship programme and it’s going from strength to strength. Bosch has long been known as a leading supplier of parts and diagnostics and we’re now becoming a leading business in training too with more than 300 apprentices learning at our centres each year.
“We deliver high quality training to people who truly benefit from it. Our Automotive Apprenticeships have industry-leading content and it’s satisfying for all of us to see the number of people taking on the apprenticeships continuing to grow. The UK has a significant skills shortage in the automotive industry and we’re doing all we can to help plug that gap.”

Once they have completed the apprenticeship, graduates will receive the following qualifications:
- Level 3 Apprenticeship Standard – Motor Vehicle Service and Maintenance Technician (Light Vehicle) or
- Level 3 Framework Apprenticeship (dependent upon UK country)
- Functional Skills (or equivalent) to Level 2 in English and Maths
- F Gas Refrigerant Handling Certification
Bosch Mobility Aftermarket will be exhibiting its latest technology at the Automechanika Birmingham show at the National Exhibition Centre, Birmingham, on 3-5 June 2025. It will also be present at the new Motorvate show that runs alongside Automechanika Birmingham.
Motorvate is a brand-new initiative that aims to tackle one of the industry's biggest challenges – the automotive talent and skills shortage. Motorvate will attract schools, college and university students, tutors, apprentices, garage and bodyshop owners, those exploring mid-career changes, and industry bodies. Motorvate is all about connecting people with the future of the industry and showcasing what’s possible. Bosch Mobility Aftermarket’s presence at the show will give attendees the opportunity to discuss a career with Bosch and to ask about the apprenticeships.
