Planting trees in the UK and beyond

As part of last year’s 125th anniversary celebrations we teamed up with Gift a Tree to plant a number of trees in the UK and beyond. Building on our legacy and sharing Bosch’s commitment to taking care of the community and environment around us. To celebrate World Environment Day, we wanted to share an update on how the trees are doing.

Recently, Sue Shrosbree, Head of Corporate Communications at Bosch UK visited Andy Fields, Founder of Gift a Tree, at Bradford Farm in Devon where his charity has a 4-acre site, on which 125 hawthorn trees were planted to commemorate Bosch’s history and legacy in the UK.
In the weeks since the trees were planted early foliage has started to grow, setting a great foundation for the future of the local habitat.
Planting trees also has an important role in improving the health if the local environment, it plays a crucial role in offsetting carbon emissions, promoting soil conservation, and providing habitats for local wildlife.
Investing in our local environment

Iver Environment Centre and Colne Valley Regional Park are located on the doorstep of the Bosch’s Denham Campus. To show Bosch’s commitment to preserving the local environment we donated 125 trees to be planted across the areas.
Nikkita Sood, Learning and Development Intern and Victor Baret, Business Development Intern recently visited the trees and volunteered their time to help the organisation carry out tree surveys and maintenance on the saplings.
Many of the trees planted contributed towards a new maze to enhance the playground area, adding an exciting new activity for young children to play in as well as providing a great habitat for native birds such as waxwings and robins in the wildlife corridor.

“I had a great time volunteering at Iver Environmental Centre, where Victor and I got involved in several activities. We looked at signs of tree health and decay, by examining them up close using scopes, and cleared weeds and debris from tree shoots to allow them to grow well. We had a look at one of the trees Bosch planted and surveyed it for health, along with checking the many other trees that Bosch planted and how well they are progressing. It was a brilliant opportunity to see the fantastic work the centre is carrying out to maintain the environment!” - Nikkita Sood, Learning and Development Intern
Planting over 7,000 trees around the world

As part of our collaboration with Gift a tree Bosch UK also planted over 7,000 trees across 5 reforestation projects around the globe that were chosen by Bosch UK&I associates.
Take a look at the projects we provided tree investment in here.
In addition to these projects, Bosch UK also provided fruit tree investments to the Usambara mountain region in Tanzania. Typically known for its unique biodiversity and ecosystems, the region has recently felt the effects of deforestation and unsustainable agricultural practices which have taken a toll on the local environment.

Bosch UK have funded the planting of many fruit trees, helping to make a positive impact. The project not only restores the natural beauty of the land but also helps to support the local economy and food security in the region. The charities commitment to educating children and farmers about the importance of tree planting and looking after natural habitats will also help to ensure an environmental stewardship within future generations.
