Stowmarket Lawn and Garden: Garden SOS Project Bee Garden
Over the course of this year, associates are spending their time giving back to their local communities through a wide range of charity initiatives that will form 125 Acts of Kindness, paying forward Bosch’s legacy into future generations. As part of our 125th year anniversary celebrations, the Bosch Lawn and Garden Team at Stowmarket team took on their first of several planned Garden SOS events.
The Garden SOS team spent two days working with ActivGardens, an organisation that maintains and runs community garden projects for children and young adults with additional needs.
In addition to donating products from the DIY and Garden Tools range to ActivGardens, the team spent the day clearing weeds, shredding wood, mowing pathways, building fences, and much more! The job was no easy feat, requiring 32 associates and 125 man-hours of preparation for each day which produced phenomenal results as they cleared the area for future use.
Thanks to the Bosch Stowmarket team, ActivGardens has a clear green space for their Bee Garden, and they hope to re-establish the original plan to create an area to educate attendees, children on school trips, and the local community about the importance of all pollinators with a focus on managing domestic pollinators such as honeybees. The tools which have been donated include drills, a lawnmower, trimmer, and hedge cutter and will be able to help maintain their garden spaces by replacing previously damaged, outdated, and stolen equipment.
There was also a learning element to the day as associates were given a beehive demonstration and had the opportunity to discuss how Bosch Lawn and Garden tools have been developed, and the positive impacts of technology on gardening. The bee demonstration was a chance for associates to see the working hives that they keep on site for both educational purposes and to make honey.
ActivGardens, who are celebrating their 15th birthday this year, said:
“The assistance we have received from the Bosch team, who are celebrating their 125th birthday this year, has been second to none.”
In undertaking their Garden SOS project, the team at Stowmarket have truly embraced the spirit of the 125th anniversary by finding meaningful and impactful ways to help create a legacy of giving back. Their work at the Bee Garden will lay the foundation for the community project’s continuation in the years to come.
